Some of our products are stocked and shipped from Sydney, Australia, while others are shipped direct from China.
Why ship from China? Most of our products are manufactured in China, and our customers are located all over the world. Shipping from Australia to other countries is very expensive, especially for express services. Even basic tracking for air mail parcels adds to the cost, but isn't available to all countries. And yet tracking for international deliveries is very important - when an order is taking longer than expected to arrive, it's comforting to be able to see where it is and know that it hasn't dropped into a black hole (sometimes also known as "customs"...).
By shipping direct from China we're able to offer delivery services via a range of carriers, most providing tracking, and all at much lower cost than the equivalent service (assuming it's available) from Australia.
You can get a shipping quote on your order by clicking on "Estimate Shipping & Taxes" in the shopping cart, and you will also be shown the range of applicable delivery options and costs when you checkout. There can be a delay while the applicable shipping services are contacted for real-time pricing, which you will see in your selected currency.
You will only be presented with options relevant to your destination and package size/weight.
Shipping cost is calculated based on total weight and size, destination and of course the delivery options (such as tracking) that you have selected.
Shipping cost does not include customs duty or tax (GST or VAT) - you will be responsible for paying this on delivery, if applicable in your country.
Our products are usually shipped the next working day (Monday to Friday, Eastern Australia time) after purchase. We'll let you know if there is any delay.
For products stocked in Australia:
We send parcels via Australia Post.
Within Australia, delivery time for parcel post services is usually 4-5 days, and includes tracking.
Express post (generally next business day delivery) is also available within Australia, often at only a slightly higher cost.
Delivery time for international air mail is usually or a week or two (sometimes three - or, vary rarely, more), depending on where you are.
Basic tracking is available to selected countries, inlcuding the USA, Canada, the UK and Germany, at extra cost.
Express international delivery (usually less than 1 week) is also available to many countries, although at a significantly higher cost.
For products stocked in China:
You will be presented with a number of delivery options, under the heading "Send From China", depending on your location. Not all carriers will ship goods to every country - you will only be presented with options applicable to your location.
Estimated delivery times are shown for each service - you'll see that there is usually a trade-off between delivery time and cost, as you'd expect.
The carriers include:
Depending on your location, you may also see an "Express Line" service. These services, operated by Chinese carriers, provide insurance, parcel tracking and fall between the usual express and registered air mail services, in terms of both cost and delivery time.
Note that we may substitute an alternate shipping service, as appropriate. Not every service is shown on our web site; we may be able to select a better service (at no extra cost to you) when we place the shipping order. And some shipping services have limitations on the maximum declared value ot the package (for insurance purposes) and delivery to remote areas.
Whichever delivery service you select, you will be emailed the tracking number and tracking web site details (if applicable).
For products stocked in both Australia and China:
We stock some products in both locations - for these you'll be presented with both the "Australia Post" and "Send From China" options, as described above.
If you're in located in Australia, Australia Post will usually provide the lowest-cost service, although (amazingly!) not by much.
If you're located outside Australia, you'll find that the Australia Post services are unreasonably expensive and best ignored.
For orders containing products stocked in separate locations:
If your order consists of some products which are only stocked in Australia and others which are only stocked in China, we'll split the order and you'll receive two shipments.
Our shipping cost calculator isn't sophisticated enough to correctly hande that scenario, so you'll instead be presented with a "Per Item Shipping Rate", which despite its name gives you the total shipping cost for your order. We'll then use ordinary air mail (registered for the products stocked in China) to ship your order.
